Keep the Joy

Today's Scripture

“I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy” John 16:22 (NIV).

Today's Word

Your life is probably so fast paced that it seems to be swirling around you at times. In the midst of a hectic schedule, there are plenty of opportunities to lose your joy. But you don't have to let any circumstance rob you of the joy that is rightfully yours in Christ. Once you decide to follow God and listen to Him, alone, nothing can take away that joy that is within you. And when your heart is set on joy, no one can wrestle it away from you unless you allow it. Your enemy is roaming around like a lion - waiting to devour, destroy and rob you of joy (1 Peter 5:8). But he can't steal what Jesus has given to you in the first place. Today's verse is a promise from Jesus, Himself - so hold on to the joy that He has put in your heart!

A Prayer for Today

God, thank You for giving me unspeakable joy in my life. Help me today to hold on to what You have given me and not allow anyone or anything to take it away. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Cause Jesus says so

"(Jesus said). For this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice." - John 18:37

Why do I believe what I believe? Jesus says so.

Time has a funny way of simplifying you, if you let it. Time helps you to appreciate things more. I find myself reading the Gospels again, like it was my first time. I am finding that while Christ hasn't changed and His Word hasn't changed, my life has changed, my perspective has changed, my goals have changed. I have changed. Luckily though, His truth doesn't change. It got me to thinking about some of the simplest truths in Scripture that many of us almost forget or take for granted as we grow older. It astounds me the number of modern Christians (yes, Catholics included) who disagree with fundamental Scriptural beliefs. There's a problem, though, if any "Christian" disagrees with Christ, isn't there? Put simply, if we only believe those Scriptural passages that we agree with than it's not really the Bible we believe in, is it?

So, here are a few things that Jesus, Himself, tells us in the Gospel. It's not a complete list. It's not a perfect list. This is my list: a little "Top Ten" for myself and for you, my brothers and sisters (God's children). Consider this your "crib sheet" to your own personal "vacation bible school":

God, the Creator of all, is your Father, your Daddy. - Mark 14:36

He's not just a creator. He's not an ambivalent observer. He's not a caretaker. He's your Daddy. You can trust Him. You can believe in Him. Believing in God isn't foolish. Believing that you are the center of the universe.that's foolish.

The devil is real. - Mark 1:13, Luke 10:18

He is not a myth or a figment of your imagination. He does exist and he doesn't want you anywhere near God. Resist him (James 4:8-9). And if you don't believe he's real, he's already won. The greatest thing the devil ever accomplished was making people believe that he doesn't exist.

Sin destroys you and will kill you. - Matt 5:30, Mark 9:42

It doesn't "just make you feel bad". It isn't something you can rationalize away. Sin destroys your capacity to love rightly and to live well. Sin also destroys your capacity to receive love. This is a serious thing. If you are in sin, reconcile yourself to God.

Not everyone is getting into Heaven. - Matt 7:13-14

It's a popular misconception that "all roads lead to Heaven". That's just not true. Not everyone is getting into heaven, in fact many who think they are, probably aren't according to Scripture. Heaven is a decision, a gift from God chosen by the life you live. Hell is a choice, too. God wants you in Heaven.

God's mercy is bigger than your sins. - John 8:11, Luke 10:37

The only sin God won't forgive is the sin you won't ask forgiveness for. His mercy is limitless, but you have to be open to it. (Oh, and guilt doesn't come from God, it comes from within. Your conscience is one of God's greatest gifts to you. it's a gift, not a curse).

If you want to see God, look at Jesus. - John 14:9

Jesus wasn't just a philosopher or a prophet. He is God. No other religious leader of consequence ever claimed to actually "be" God. No lunatic would live what He lived. No other leader rose from the dead. No other leader is coming back again. If you're trying to figure out what God wants, get to know Jesus.

If you want to know Jesus, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. - John 16:7, 13

The same way Jesus reveals the Father, the Holy Spirit reveals Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you closer to Jesus. Ask him to show you Christ's face, help you to hear His voice and give you the courage to follow Jesus' will.

God will give you what you need. - Matt 7:7-12

He might not always give you what you want, but God will always give you what you need. That difference seems small but it's huge; it seems easy, but living it is difficult. It takes trust.

In your life you'll have troubles; that doesn't mean God doesn't love you" - John 16:33"

Bad times" don't mean that God doesn't care. Jesus never promised that once you follow God you'd never struggle again. He promised that God won't abandon you.

The Eucharist is Christ's true flesh and blood. - Matt 26:26, John 6:22-58

It's not a symbol. It's not a simple memorial. It's more than that. The Eucharist is how Christ insures that He is with us forever (Mt. 28:20). The apostles didn't misunderstand. The Church didn't "make it up". St. Paul believed in the real presence, too (1 Cor. 11:23-29).

Two more truths, for the road: The Bible is not outdated, it is timeless; it is the Living Word of God. Jesus loves you, this I know.

(Jesus said) For this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice." - John 18:37

Pictures from the Bosch BBQ

My hubbie has started a tradition in our family. We have made a firm committment to get together at least 1x a month with our families and spend that quality time together. As life can become so busy and crazy that before you know it months have gone by and you don't get together with your family as much as we should. So this was our first Bosch family get together for the month of June. It was great fun.
I need to share this beautiful story and how God works in misterious ways. Herb's niece Kristy has a 3 yr old (she's standing next to Anthony) well she goes to a christian school and they teach all the kids different songs and stuff. Well, while the family was gathered all together, this little girl went up to each adult and made everyone hold hands, then after everyone was holding hands, she led us into a prayerful song. And the song lyrics to the song was this
"THE MORE WE GET TOGETHER, THE HAPPIER WE'LL BE" I could not but tear up - it was so obvious that the Lord used this little girl to remind us, how important family needs to be to one another.
I am so blessed to have such beautiful families on both parts. May this be the beginning of something beautiful.
Blessings and peace to all of you.

So what about Eagles

Have you ever found yourselves in a conversation with someone about - if you can be any type of Animal in this world, what would it be and why?

Well, I have had these conversations with my hubbie and Anthony, and I always said that if I can be any animal - I would chose to be an Eagle. I chose the Eagle because they seem to be so free as the soar across the sky. Freedom - Ah !!! Yes !!!! Where am I going with this.

Well - I came across this website and it talks all about Eagles and our own spiritual freedom. Take a peek and let me know what you think. I took it as another affirmation - the little voices inside my heart that speak to me. Yes - the Holy Spirit and the good Lord.

How Great is our God !!!! Enjoy. http://plantinghisseeds.com/articles/eagles.htm

We had a break thru !!!

How is everyone's week going, mine is very very busy !!!! But I must share that today, my Herbie had a break thru when it comes to changing diapers with babies. He always said to me, I would not change a diaper let alone one with "CACA" well guess what ? Today he changed AJ's diaper filled with CACA - (my sweet 15mth old nephew) and I took pictures to prove it. I am so proud of him. He says he just did it to show me that he knew what he was doing, but I know the truth. He wanted to test out his skills and he did super. I am so proud of him. Can't wait until Isabella comes home. Attached are also some pictures of AJ and Amanda. We were playing on the bed and snapping some shots. Enjoy the pictures !!!!

Hope everyone is having a blessed week. Peace.

Listen Up !!!!

Today's Scripture

“And after the earthquake, there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, there was the sound of a gentle whisper” 1 Kings 19:12 (TLB).

Today's Word

Listening is a lost art today. Many of us are so concerned about expressing what they think or believe that they just don't listen closely to others - or even to God. As a Christian, try to develop your senses so that you can hear God's voice in the midst of the world's noise. God speaks not only through the Bible, but also through godly counsel and His Holy Spirit. If you want to know what God desires for you, just ask Him. But then be ready to listen for His answer. All it takes is a simple prayer like the one Samuel prayed in 1 Samuel 3:10, where he said to God, “I am listening.” You never know just how God will speak to you, so listen for His still, small voice to answer.

A Prayer for Today

God, thank You for answering my prayers. Give me the wisdom and discernment to hear Your still, small voice through the loudness of this world. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Faith meets Science

Positive, Negative or Neutral - Which one are you ?

"Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him." - Romans 15:2

Do you have any "negative people" in your life? I'm not scientific. I don't know how to do a scientific survey. I should have paid more attention in high school science class. None of these truths, however, kept me from doing a survey this past week. I was beginning to notice how contagious negativity can be and how dangerous negativity is to the Christian walk. I don't consider myself a negative person. That being said, when people around me grow increasingly negative, it begins to wear me down over time. I lose my perspective. My patience begins to fade along with my smile. Before you know it, I'm in an all out, tug-of-war with satan for my joy. Can you relate? So for one full week I just listened. I listened to people throughout the course of my day. I listened to people on the radio, in the grocery store, at the airport, around the office, at restaurants, in the doctor's waiting room. Pretty much everywhere I went I was taking mental notes. I began tabulating the scores in my head. Now, I remind you, I'm not scientific, but do you know what I heard? By the end of each day I calculated that almost 70% of the things I heard come out of peoples' mouths were negative. Only about 20% was positive. The remaining 10% made no sense. I couldn't characterize it either way, some of God's children are just plain weird (myself included probably), so we'll just call it neutral. I couldn't believe it, but it is the truth. Some comments were just plain rude, others passive aggressive (subtle but just as deadly) and others were just frustrated, emotional responses to life. Some people had nothing nice to say. Others had nothing affirming to offer. Still others could talk about nothing except themselves. Literally, each day I could count on one hand the number of affirming phrases I had heard, and those usually came at home or at the office. Thank God I have a holy family and that I work for a ministry with people who actually pray! The whole "survey" pushed me (like many things do) back to Scripture and to today's verse.

In this translation of the Romans passage up above, the word we are given to express God's command is to "edify". I like that word. The dictionary definition of edify is "to instruct or improve someone morally or intellectually". Wow, that's boring yet insightful.like most dictionary definitions. What I usually find far more interesting is the etymology (the study of the origin of a word's meaning) of a word, it usually tells you far more. The word "edify" comes from the Latin, aedificare, which means "to build" or "to strengthen". It's where we get the term, "edifice". St. Paul wasn't speaking to Romans about constructing a building with stones but about building up "the person, the body of Christ" through words, morally and spiritually.

If I had asked you at the beginning of this blog, if you are a positive person or a negative person, you probably would have automatically (without thinking) said, "positive". And hopefully that is true. If I told you, though, that being positive means more than "not being negative", would that change your response? What if we lived by God's truth and St. Paul's pen, knowing that being "positive" means to be authentically edifying in your speech, on a daily basis? In my prayer, I have to look at myself. Maybe "not being negative" doesn't necessarily mean I'm positive. Maybe I shouldn't consider myself "positive" if I'm not proactively edifying (building up) the greater Body of Christ. Maybe, just maybe I have some work to do in this area. Wow, maybe I should have paid more attention in science class! To be really, painfully honest with myself, I'd say that some days I'm positive (proton), some days I'm negative (electron) and some days I'm just oblivious (neutron) and self-absorbed (which can quickly go from neutral to a negative).

How about you? God has a solution for you. and He gives it through His Word, pray it again.
"Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him." - Romans 15:2

Relax and Let God Work !!!

Today's Scripture

“Cease striving, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10 (NAS).

Today's Word

Psalm 46:10 is a great Scripture to pray daily. Turn to it and read it before you make any decision. You'll be amazed at the insight you get from waiting on God instead of striving to find the answers on your own. Don't always react on your first impulse - instead, think about what God would want from you and realize that He is in control. You'll be able to see His hand working in just about any situation when you take a step back and realize it's not your plan, but His. When you're absolutely confused, worried and don't have a clue what to do, relax for a minute and let God work. Don't let panic or worry guide your decisions when God is ready to help you.

A Prayer for Today

God, thank You for remaining in control even when I'm worried or stressed. Give me Your supernatural wisdom to make decisions that honor You and are for my good. In Jesus' Name. Amen

Missing In Action

Not that anyone is wondering but it makes me feel better to think that their are people out there that read my blog. If anyone has noticed that I haven't blogged in awhile. Let me tell you where I have been for the past week. I left with our youth group to do some mission work in St. Petersburg, Florida on June 10th. The mission trip was scheduled from June 10 -June 15 (which is today). I only went up for a couple of days though because I had promised my sister that I would take care of her babies, AJ and Amanda if she happen to be leaving to China during that week. Well, sure enough, my sister, my mom, my brother in law and Kai left to China on Wednesday morning. I was sort of bummed that I had to cut the mission trip short but God in his perfect plan saw something else coming. Let me explain, my plan was to leave camp on late Tuesday night and drive to Ft Myers to stay at my sister's house. The plan was that I would take everyone to the airport on Wed morning for their trip to China. Well, that was my plan. The Lord's plan was something different. I ended leaving St.Pete by 1:00pm on Tuesday, being home alone by 3:00pm, shaking and shivering with 102 degree fever. I ended up getting this horrible gastrointestinal virus. My mom was supposed to go to my sister's house tuesday evening but since she knew that I was sick, she stayed with me and decided to head to my sister's house with me in the morning (remember, I had to pick them up to take them to the airport by 7:00am). Thanks to my mom, she came and made me a very bland dinner and give me TLC from mommy. (it's doesn't matter how old you get - My mommy is so special and I love her so much and I always need her TLC especially when I'm feeling sick) - and for that I am so blessed. Ok so needless to say, I battled the night with on and off heat flashes - trying to beak thry the fever. I was up by the grace of God at 5:45am still with 102 fever. I picked up mom by 6:15am and headed toward ft. Myers to pick up my sister, scott, and kai to take them to the airport. So what happens next, a 4-car accident backs up the highway like 15 miles from my sister's house, I was stuck in a grid. Needless, to say I had to call my sister to tell her that I was running late due to this accident. My sister begins to panic thinking she is going to miss her flight to China. I tell her - I will call you back - let me get off of the highway and take the back streets. Yeh ok (brilliant idea) me and a thousand other vehicles thought the same way. Well to make a long story short - I ended up taking my mom to the airport and not ever seeing my sister off. She and Scott had to drive themselves to the aiport and leave their car in long term parking until I could get back out there to pick it up. I really felt bad for them, I felt bad for my sister because she was crying on the phone thinking she was never going to make it to China.
It all worked out good, they finally made it to the airport, I finally got to their house to pick up Amanda and AJ, went from their straight to the doctor's office and home to bed. Thank God for Amanda who really stepped up to the plate to help me out with AJ while I recovered from this horrible virus. Oh did I fail to mention that my 18 yr old Anthony was gone also to the mission trip all week, so he was not able to help me and Herb was gone and still is gone and won't be back until Monday. Yeh - well that's what's been happening in my neck of the woods. But I am now feeling better and running around taking care of poor AJ who now got the virus that I had. Poor sweet baby boy. He is not feeling good :(

So please keep AJ in your prayers that this bug not torture him too much. I'm off to to love and craddle baby AJ. Peace and God Bless.

Choose to Rejoice

Today's Scripture

“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

Today's Word

Joy is a tough word to pinpoint and define. Many people describe joy as an emotion or a feeling that comes over you in a great and shining moment. Sometimes joy is just the opposite of being angry, but hopefully it’s much more than that to you. Joy is not the same as happiness, because joy is what God has put in your heart, while happiness is a temporary mood that can come and go. The Bible talks about the kind of overflowing joy that rises up from deep within your heart because of what God has done for you. He keeps that spring full and flowing, which is why you can choose to live in joy today, tomorrow, and every day after. Joy like this is contagious, and the world is looking for it.

A Prayer for Today

God, I choose joy today! Thank You for placing in my heart a deep well of joy that I can draw from each day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray Constantly

Today's Scripture

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Today's Word

If there is a common thread that should run through the life of a Christian each day, it’s prayer. Now, that doesn’t mean you refuse to speak to anyone else or that you drive down the road with your eyes closed. But it does mean being ever ready and willing to go before God. Nothing is too small or too big for God to care about. He created you, so why wouldn’t He care about you? You should bathe your life in prayer. Pray for wisdom, peace, and patience. Pray for your marriage, your job, and your children. Pray for other people and circumstances, even when the situation may seem hopeless. Give every person and everything in your life to God in prayer — and they will be in the best of hands!

A Prayer for Today

God, thank You for the wonderful privilege of talking to You in prayer. Help me to pray continually and faithfully for the people and needs around me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

It's all for a reason

Today's Scripture

“Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5)

Today's Word

There probably is nothing good in this life that comes free of charge. Things of value often require sacrifice to obtain—but they are worth the cost! The Christian life is no exception. The trials you encounter from day to day may seem frustrating, but the reward is great in the end. The only problem with the whole equation is that you can’t see the end, so you’re not always sure where God is taking you or what He is trying to accomplish in your life. That’s where His grace and love come into play as He assures you of His guidance and asks you to trust Him. Who would you rather trust than God? He knows where your journey will take you and where you should go, so listen to Him and trust His plans and reasons.

A Prayer for Today

God, I know You have a plan for me that is wonderful. Give me the grace to seek that plan and trust You no matter what I see ahead. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Blessed me Father, for I am ANNOYED

"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them." - Luke 6:32

Do you have anyone in your life who just annoys you? Do you have that one person who knows how to push you to the limit? "Seriously, God, are you kidding me?" I don't know how many times in the course of the day or week I ask the above question. Often times, it's accompanied by a look up to the sky or a shaking of my head. Usually it comes after another one of God's creation. Some brother or sister in Christ has unnecessarily made my faith walk more difficult than it needs to be. Sometimes other people life intentionally make your life harder, sometimes unintentionally, but it's always a challenge, isn't it?

It's not un-Christian to "be annoyed" by someone. It's un-Christian when that annoyance allows you to act un-Christian to that someone. When you read the Gospels you don't see a picture of Jesus that lacks occasional annoyance or frustration. Jesus got frustrated, sometimes Jesus got annoyed, to be sure. We have several examples, Mt 8:26, Mt 16:23, Lk 9:41, Jn 2:13-16, to name a few. But Christ never forgot how to be "Christ-like" (obviously). And while you and I are not perfect like Jesus we are still called as Christians ("little Christ"s) to set our bars higher than the rest of the world does. The next time that person opens their mouth, pray for them. The next time that person offers an unkind word, or unwanted advice or unnecessary criticism. Simply pray for them. The next time that person gives the annoyed exhale, exaggerated eye roll or disapproving sideways glance, just pray for them.

Why do I say these things? Because that's what I need to do, too. We can learn a lot from Jesus. We need more people who wash the feet (Jn 13:1-20), not just who complain about how bad they smell. We need more people who forgive (Lk 17:3), not who hold grudges. We need more people who build others up (Mt 12:37), not who tear others down. We need more people who are not only authentically annoyed but who are authentic in their love. Picture that person (or people) who annoys you. Now, imagine this how much you love that person is how much you love Jesus (yikes!) But don't take my word for it, take His Word for it, that's today's verse.

How's that for motivation? "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them." - Luke 6:32

Love is not the absence of annoyance, it is the refusal to be mastered by it.

Beach Party for Anthony's Grad Celebration

Above are some pictures from Anthony's Graduation celebration at the Beach House that we rented at for the weekend. Although the weather report stated that we were going to be slammed with rain and wind for the weekend. Our Awesome God, proved once again that when we surrender everything to him, he always keeps his promise. He took away the rain and gave us alittle bit of wind, but it turned out to be a beautiful weekend. We shared wonderful memories in Anthony's graduation milestone. Thanking you all who shared this precious time with us.

Imagine This !!

You are in your car driving home. Thoughts wander to the game you want to see or meal you want
to eat, when suddenly a sound unlike any you've ever heard fills the air. The sound is high above
you. A trumpet? A choir? A choir of trumpets? You don't know, but you want to know. So you pull
over, get out of your car, and look up. As you do, you see you aren't the only curious one. The road
side has become a parking lot. Car doors are open, and people are staring at the sky. Shoppers are
racing out of the grocery store. The Little League baseball game across the street has come to a halt.
Players and parents are >searching the clouds. And what they see, and what you see, has never
before been seen. As if the sky were a curtain, the drapes of the atmosphere part. A brilliant light
spills onto the earth. There are no shadows. None. From whence came the light begins to tumble a
river of color spiking crystals of every hue ever seen and a million more never seen. Riding on the
flow is an endless fleet of angels. They pass through the curtains one myriad at a time, until
they occupy every square inch of the sky. North. South. East. West. Thousands of silvery wings
rise and fall in unison, and over the sound of the trumpets, you can hear the cherubim and
seraphim chanting, Holy, holy, holy. The final flank of angels is followed by twenty-four silver-bearded elders and a multitude of souls who join the angels in worship. Presently the movement
stops and the trumpets are silent, leaving only the triumphant triplet: Holy, holy, holy. Between
each word is a pause. With each word, a profound reverence. You hear your voice join in the
chorus. You don't know why you say the words, but you know you must. Suddenly, the heavens
are quiet. All is quiet. The angel's turn, you turn, the entire world turns and there He is.
Jesus. Through waves of light you see the silhouetted figure of Christ the King. He is atop a great
stallion, and the stallion is atop a billowing cloud. He opens his mouth, and you are surrounded
by his declaration: I am the Alpha and the Omega. The angels bow their heads.
The elders remove their crowns. And before you is a Figure so consuming that you know,
instantly you know: Nothing else matters. Forget stock markets and school reports. Sales
meetings and football games. Nothing is newsworthy.

All that mattered, matters no more.... for Christ has come. Please let me know the exact time
you read this. This morning when the Lord opened a window to Heaven, he saw me, and he
asked: My child, what is your greatest wish for today? I responded: 'Lord please; take care
of the person who is reading this message, their family and their special friends.
They deserve it and I love them very much'.

The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginnings but not its end.

Have a beautiful and blessed day !!!!

Practicing Real Love

Today's Scripture

“My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love.” (1 John 3:18)

Today's Word

It’s important for you to let those special people in your life know how much you appreciate their love and faithfulness to you. It’s easy for human beings to let their love stop with words. Now loving words are certainly crucial to a love relationship, but words by themselves are not enough. The Bible says very clearly that we are to love not just by the words we say, but by the deeds of love that we do for others. There is absolutely no limit to the good things that can happen when you decide to let love be the driving force in your life. True love is so strong that the Bible says, “Many waters cannot quench love” (Song of Songs 8:7). That’s a wonderful promise that when you choose to love, your efforts will not be in vain. God will open the windows of heaven and rain down His joy, abundance and favor on you when you learn to love the way He loves.

A Prayer for Today

God, I want to live my best life for You, in love, in everything I do. Please show me the way today so that I may walk in love toward You and toward others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
